Week Twenty-Six

  • Laughs!!  She has always been a very happy baby, but she just smiled...never laughed.  Often times she just looks around taking in the world with her serious face (I call it her daddy face).  No she has started to really laugh at certain things.  She loves when you take the nose sucker (that's my technical term) and blow air in her face, shake the burp cloth in her face, or tickle her neck!  Her little laugh is just so cute!
  • Can't get enough of her feet! Those things are always in her mouth.
  • Loves Noah!  They have become best friends... Noah likes to come and lay next to her on the floor, so we encourage Maddie to pet him and talk to her about what a good doggie he is.  Noah loves the attention, but also still thinks it's fun to lick the top of her head....silly dog!
  • Started eating green peas and bananas this week.  So far she loves both of them. (the first day of bananas she was a bit unsure, but the second day they were yummy) Her meals now look like this:
    • Breakfast: oatmeal and bananas
    • Lunch: brown rice cereal, sweet potato, green peas
    • Dinner: brown rice cereal, sweet potato, green peas
  • Is drinking a tiny bit of water from her sippy cup.  She has figured out how to suck from it, but she doesn't ever drink much.  She loves to hold it at dinner time and chew on it, though.  Every few bites of food she holds out her arms out and reaches for it.
  • I'm pretty sure she has started her 6 month growth spurt.  She has been taking super long morning naps the last few days.  Usually she only naps for 1.5 hours, but she took a 2.5 hour morning nap on Monday and Tuesday.  I'm pretty sure she is eating more too...  she still only nurses 5 times a day and then she eats solids 3 times a day, but I've been eating us out of house and home.  I eat 2 breakfasts, one lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, dessert, and sometime a second dinner or late night snack.  Maddie must be packing in the food when it is time to eat because I've been STARVING lately!  It's hard to stay on a grocery budget when you are constantly hungry!
  • Gets a bath every night!  We use to do bath time every other day, but now with our new eating schedule there is always stray oatmeal or green peas that need to be washed off!
  • Really wants to move....she is getting super strong and determined to crawl.  We have been putting her in our front living room that has carpet, so she can try to get a hold of something and push herself.  She is doing so well!
  • Got her 6 month professional photos done on Saturday.  She isn't really 6 months until this Wednesday, but my coupon expires, so we did them a few days early.  Maddie wasn't sure what to think of the camera man, so no smiles this time....she reserves those for people she knows!
  • Has started playing with some new/old toys.  I expanded her play area for the summer since we are home all day and I set out all of her toys.  She has started playing with some of the things she has had, but was never really interested before.  She loves her giggle doll from Granny and her animal cube from cousins Jennifer and Brett.  She also has brought back her piano from Grandma and Grandpa Hart...it's suppose to be a kick and play piano, but Maddie likes to lay on it now.  It's fun to watch her play with all these toys in a different way.  She is much more aware of what's going on and what they do.
  • Attempted a play date at the park with Jacob, but as soon as we got on the swings it started to rain.  We decided to walk the mall instead...Maddie enjoyed her little trip with Jacob and enjoyed playing with the puppets in the bookstore.  Jacob's mommy, Miss Catherine is so funny!
  • Has spent much of her time this week inside hiding from all the rain and storms we've had from TS Debby.  We are ready for the weather to get better, so we can play outside again!

Maddie will all of her toys!
"Yay, it's my best bud, Noah"
"Come here, Noah...I want to pull your ear!"
Best Friends :)
Sippy Cup!
Smile time with mommy!
Just a typical trip to the store
